In Memory of Liz Wilson

April 13, 2013 marks the date that we lost a true icon in the parrot world.  Liz Wilson, CVT pioneered parrot behavioral consulting nearly 25 years ago and bettered the lives of countless parrots through owner education in a wide variety of forums.  Liz’s writing, speaking and behavioral consulting included columnist for Bird Talk for many years, Board Member of Phoenix Landing, speaker at numerous veterinary conferences, bird club/organization meetings and longstanding Adoption Committee Member for PEAC in both San Diego and our Anchorage chapters.  PEAC was extremely fortunate to have Liz speak at several conferences over the years; her funny, direct and sage words helped us all understand that it’s our own behavior that drives behaviors (both desirable and otherwise) in our feathered companions.
PEAC’s two-fold mission: education of current and potential parrot owners, and secondarily fostering parrots in need and matching them with permanent adoptive homes is one that we, like Liz, are passionate about continuing.  As a 501(c)3 registered non-profit, all donations to PEAC are tax deductible.
Here’s how you can honor Liz Wilson’s legacy, and double your support of what we do:
A long-standing PEAC member, who prefers to remain anonymous, has stepped forward.  This special person will match, dollar for dollar, up to $1000.00, all donations made to PEAC by July 15, 2013.  Every dollar helps!  Please mark your donation with “In Memory of Liz Wilson“.

Featured Flock Members: Kito and Barb

Meet Kito – an adorable female Senegal without behavioral issues.  She loves to dance, swing and hang out with her foster family, stepping up readily for everyone.  She enjoys her bird pellets and a variety of vegetables and healthy table foods.  Her feather condition was good when she came into our program and now she glows with the benefit of balanced nutrition.  If you would like to see Kito playing, dancing and being a clown, please go to http://www.youtube.com/user/SLSandc…

Barb is a 15 year old female Red-bellied Parrot. In spite of a very poor diet (primarily seed) in her previous home her feather condition is excellent and she is already accepting healthier foods. She is stepping up readily for her foster volunteer from the first day and we have not observed the excessive vocalization described in her previous home. She is enjoying being in a much larger cage and receiving more attention and stimulation.

If you are interested in adopting either of these funny and charming feathered companions, please click on ‘Adoption’ tab for details of our process.  Our seminar schedule is located under the ‘Calendar’ tab.
