Meet Hobbes

Hobbes is a Severe macaw who is 27-years-old and a DNA sexed male. (Sometimes this species is referred to as a “mini macaw.”) He has had only had one owner his entire life and shared his home with 3 dogs, 2 cats and was friends with a conure who passed several years ago. Hobbes responds a little better to men and is still getting used to his new foster mom’s routine. He eats his pellets, veggies, and some fruits very well. Pistachios are his favorite treat (given in small amounts with other whole nuts.) Hobbes enjoys tearing paper and wood/fiber toys apart, doing what macaws do best! Hobbes enjoys seeing all the activity in a home and being out on a play stand with human interaction. Hobbes says “Hi Hobbes”, “good night”, “brat”, and “bad duck” (which was a phrase another bird in his home used.) He will get down out of his cage to roam and explore the home, so he must be watched closely. Hobbes enjoys a good cuddle and head scratch once he gets to know and trust you. Hobbes has had a well bird veterinary exam which includes a physical exam, blood chemistries and CBC (complete blood cell count,) and test for psittacosis (which came back as negative.) All tests have pointed to Hobbes being in good health.

Attendance at specific PEAC seminars is REQUIRED to be eligible to adopt a foster bird. We adopt within Southern California only and do NOT ship birds.
